I am interested in the relationship between the within-host and among-host evolution of RNA viruses, especially of hepatitis C virus (HCV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI).

I develop, test and distribute software to analyze phylodynamic data and develop theoretical models to couple the phylodynamics of virus evolution at different spatio-temporal scales.
