I am interested in the epidemiology and ecology of viruses in natural populations. My research involves developing and applying techniques to integrate virus genetic data with traditional clinical and demographic data. I study a variety of systems, including (i) the dynamics of viruses in wild swans, especially avian influenza, (ii) HCV transmission within social networks and (iii) the evolution and diversity of small DNA viruses in badger populations. I am a Graduate Prize Scholar at Merton College.
